Give data a voice
Whether your company is listed under finance, insurance, healthcare, etc. each of these industries make important business decisions based on collected data. Data can be manipulated in many complex ways, as well as simplistic ways. Our job as Data Scientists and Data Analysts is to develop patterns based on these loads of data. In recent times there has been an explosion of data created by consumers. Amazingly, from the beginning of time to the year 2003 we only created five exabytes of information, we now create that same amount every two days. So, what does all of this available data mean for us? This creates an excellent opportunity for companies to reach their corporate goals at a much faster rate than ever before. With all of this data, Scientists and Analysts can predict valuable information pertaining to their respective industry (profit margins, user percentage, stock prices, etc.) The horizon is endless with the amount of fun we can have with these datasets.
What do I mean by fun? The methods that efficiently and insightfully tell a story with our data is for the most part carried out through statistics. For most, statistics can be an advanced field with too many applications to understand and apply. Personally, I enjoy statistics because of the power it gives you to manipulate data. This power is showcased by concepts of the K-Nearest Neighbor, Logistic Regression, Kernel SVM, plain old pie charts and basic tables along with more statistical applications. After the most recent analysis is complete, then comes the rewarding part of the process, which is communicating with others about your findings and ideas going forward.
So what is the purpose behind this website? To give data a voice and showcase my skills through means of analysis.
